Member Projects

Experimental radio design and modification is still alive and well in amateur radio. Using the baseline design of the HF Signals uBITX 5 band QRP radio, many hams have developed a variety of improvements/modifications/hacks to the uBITX that improve its function and operational enjoyment. Our own Vic Klein, WA4THR, has incorporated several of these aftermarket changes into his uBITX, and has provided links to source documents for several of the changes. Read what he has done, and how it was done, in the Member Projects menu item of the ECARS website, or by going directly to Vic's article here.

NOTE: We would like to add other member projects to this link.  What ham related project have you undertaken?  Write it up and provide pictures and it will be added to this link.  Antennas design and manufacture, Radio design and manufacture including kits, Radio and Amplifier restoration, Remote radio interface design, manufacture, or installation, etc. are all good projects to be added here.

Signal Report Needed

Signal reports, long a fundamental part of amateur radio, can be problematic. There is no commonly understood, known, or described science to signal reports. The S-meter report is to uncalibrated meters and is mostly a function of propagation. The readability report is very subjective and a function of propagation and receiver (rig and operators hearing) as well as the transmitting station. It would be so much better if you could hear your own signal, make adjustments, and then hear the effects those adjustments had in the near term. NOW YOU CAN!
WebSDR technology is a very convenient way to hear your transmitted signal and even make recordings of it.
CHECK OUT HOW TO DO THIS HERE.
