Personal Comments:
My ham radio experiences are an off shoot as a radio enthusiast from childhood building various radio projects. As a new Novice Class in the early 80's I excelled in Morse Code and remained a novice for some 20 years content with 30 wpm.

Then friends made fun of me and before the no-code became the new norm, I took the code and General Exam to silence my critics (I jest).

As I listened to various HF Nets, I became enamored with the ECARS group.

As a matter of fact, in the mid-2000's, I traveled to the EAST COAST several times to visit my daughter in Philadelphia and ECARS kept me company most of the way helping me pass the time and making sure I remained alert. I even checked in once from atop Pikes Peak, Colorado on a western trip.

I can only say my experience with the wonderful gentlemen on ECARS is something I talk up a lot, especially the friendships made from Radio Fort Wayne.

I have enjoyed Chairing the Election Committee for ECARS and hope to continue to be an enthusiastic voice promoting this truly awesome group. It's nice to know someone is there while traveling to help in an emergency and help past the time while traveling on the East Coast.
